本集简介：

When Chandler finds out Kathy's new play involves a steamy scene with her co-star, he's worried where it might lead; Joey tells him not to worry--as long as there's chemistry on-stage, there isn't anything happening off-stage; This helps... until Chandler sees the play again later and finds the performance isn't as good; Chandler accuses Kathy of sleeping with her leading man; they fight and part on unfavorable terms; by the time Chandler goes to apologize and make up, it's too late. Monica tells Joey that the guys have to be the hosts since they have the big apartment; when they comply, she tries to win everyone over to her place by doing lots of cooking and re-decorating. Rachel's department at work is eliminated, so she gets demoted to Personal Shopper; she plans to quit until a handsome, well-to-do young man needs her services; she wants to ask him on a date, but doesn't know how... she's never had to ask anyone out before.

钱德发现凯茜在新戏中和以前合作的男星有一场热辣演出，他害怕会出问题；

故事梗概

Ross 和 Chandler 去看 Kathy 的表演，
没想到却是 Kathy 和别人make love 的一场戏，
这令 Chandler 很是懊恼。
Joey 说，
只要两个演员在舞台上表现的很火辣
(hot)，
就证明他们之间在舞台下不会发生问题。
Joey 用到了一个词 chemistry，
意思是
“来电的感觉”，
have chemistry between two persons，
意思是两人有那种感觉．
但是几个人似乎在帮倒忙，
他们列举了好几个例子，
都是舞台上很热火，
生活中也是一对。
于是 Chandler 很紧张，
去和Kathy 对质(contront)，
结果两人不欢而散……

Phoebe: Ooh! How was Kathy's play?
Ross: Well, Kathy gets half-naked and simulates sex with a real good lookin?guy.
Chandler: Yeah, it's like someone literally wrote down my worst nightmare and then charged me $32 to see it!
Phoebe: That's a good idea for a business!

英语中，be screwed　是一个常用俚语，意思是“被涮了、被欺骗了”(to be fooled or deceived)。例如：
The innocent girl was screwed by that
playboy．(那个单纯的小女孩被那个花花公子耍了。)

screw 还有“因坏遭遇使心情烦乱、难过或痛苦”的意思 (unhappy，miserable，and anxious because of bad experiences)。

screw up是“搞砸”的意思。Rachel 有一次一口气说了长长的一段话：All right，how about I go over there and I will walk into Chandler's bedroom
and I will see that thing that I think that I know is actually the thing that I
think that I know! 但是她连一个字都没说错，用英语说就是“She didn't
screw up a word．”你可以试一试，很不容易的。再如：

·I screwed the TEM-8 exam up totally．(我的英语专业八级考试彻底考砸了。)

·If you screw up again，you'll be in trouble! (如果你再把事情搞得一团糟，你就麻烦大了!)

·Lifting those boxes really screwed up my back．(抬这些箱确实令我的背部受到损伤。)

用 mess up 也可以表示“把事情搞砸”。例如：

．His mistake messed up all our plans．(他的错误搞砸了我们的计划。)

blow 这个词也可以表示上述意思，如 Joey 有一次说：I finally get my
shot，and I blow it! (最后我是得到那个机会的，可是我又搞砸了!) 再如：

·We could have caught the criminal suspect，but you blew the whole

plan! (我们本可以抓到那个犯罪嫌疑人的，可是你把整个计划都搞砸了!)
