The One With a Chick. And a Duck.

本集简介：

The diner where Monica works puts their staff on roller-skates; Monica crashes into Rachel while skating; Rachel's injuries are worse than first believed. Pete buys a restaurant and offers Monica a job as head chef; she's unsure whether to take it, since she still isn't attracted to Pete. Pete makes up a story about another woman so Monica will think he's over her; Phoebe sees right through it but promises not to tell Monica. Joey buys a pet chick for Chandler, but caring for it becomes a source of conflict. Ross has a chance to be on TV as part of a panel of Paleontologists, but gives it up to take Rachel to the hospital. Monica and Pete are about to stop seeing each other, but then they kiss... and Monica finally feels it.

故事梗概

工作认真执着的Ross又有好消息了，他们博物馆要开一个座谈会，讨论他们刚刚在秘鲁(Peru)发现的化石,
而且探索频道要来录制全过程。Ross对此十分共奋，并且打算要精心准备。

Ross: (triumphantly) I'm gonna be on TV!!

Chandler: No way!

Ross: Yeah! They're putting together this panel to talk about these fossils they just found in Peru and The Discovery Channel's gonna film it!

Chandler: Oh my God! Who's gonna watch that?!

Ross: Thanks. You ready to go?

1985年在美国开播的The Discovery Channel现在已经发展成为业务遍及160个国家和地区，拥有13亿用户的全球时事与娱乐传播公司。目前The Discovery Channel只是该公司Discovery Communications的核心栏目，它还有其他25个栏目，如：TLC，Animal Planet，Travel Channel，Discovery Health Channel，Discovery Kids，Discovery Times Channel，The Science Channel，Military Channel,Discovery Home Channel等等。

目前，在中国也能看到Discovery Communications的节目。它的确是一档探究事物本源，解密世界奇妙的好节目。

Ross要上The Discovery Channel了，他说：I’m gonna be on TV．我们要上电视了，便可以说：We are gonna be on TV．如果是收音机呢?是否可以说：We are gonna be on radio?答案是No。因为radio这个词是收音机、广播电台、无线电的意思，比方说：I heard about it on the radio．
(关于这件事我是从收音机里听到的。)Through months’seeking，he finally got a job in radio．
(经过几个月的寻找，他终于在广播电台找到了一份工作。)She spoke over the radio．(她作广播讲话。)可以看出，radio指的是无线电信号和无线电信号接收器，而不是无线电节目。要表达上广播节目应该说：We are gonna be on the air．air的含义是“无线电广播节目”。

它也可作动词，指“在无线电节目中播出”，如：The tidbits will air on tonight’s 6 o’clock news．
(趣闻将要在今晚6点的新闻节目中播出)；The program airs daily(这档节目每日播放)。

现在中国广播节目也与听众进行实时互动了，他们之间的媒介之一就是电话，在国外也是这样，这被称作call-in discussion。另外，随着电视业的迅猛发展，air这个词也可以指在电视中播放，像：The ad was submitted to CBS and
has been accepted to air it．
(提交到CBS的广告已经获准播出了。)不过如果说：We are gonna be on the air．那还是指上广播，而不是上电视。

3-21-2都是小鸡惹的祸

故事梗概

Joey和Chandler煞有介事地专心照顾起他们新买来的小鸡。陪她看电视、聊天、哄她睡觉。可谓精心照看、无微不至。今天，Joey工作了一天，回来后马上还要出去和朋友们喝酒。在家照顾了小鸡一天的Chandler生气了，还煞有介事地和Joey吵了起来。

Joey: Well, anyway, I got to go change, I'm ah, meeting some of the cast for drinks.

Chandler: Excuse me?

Joey: What?

Chandler: I stayed home from work today while you were at rehearsal so somebody could be here with our chick!

Joey: Hey! Who was up from 2 o'lock this morning until 5 o'lock this morning trying to get her back to sleep?

Chandler: You don't think I get up when you get up?

Joey: Ohhh, here it comes.

Chandler: Yes, here it comes! I'm stuck here all day, and then you come in and spend two seconds with us and then expect to go off gallivanting with your friends? Well I don't think so mister!

Joey: Hey!! I need to relax! Okay? I was working all day!

Chandler: And you don't think taking care of our chick is work?

Joey: That't not what I said. Okay, I just meant...

Chandler: I know what you meant!! (pause) You notice that ever since we got this chick, we're been fighting a lot more than we used too?

不知看了这一集的你，是否感到Joey和Chandler之间的对话有些与往常不同，甚至有些怪怪的，仿佛在哪里听过。让我们仔细品位一下吧。作了一天的Joey一回来就随意地放下背包，在屋子里晃了一圈说“我要换衣服出去和朋友喝酒”。

这下，Chandler可不是和往常一样跟他打趣，而是回敬了一句“Excuse me?”表面是很讲礼貌，实则生气了。然后他就马上说“今天我没有工作，为的是在你工作的时候能够有人在家陪我们的小鸡。”他说的是“我们的小鸡”，这是他们第一回合的争论。

接下来Joey也不示弱，他回敬道“是谁从早上2点一直到5点哄我们的小鸡睡觉?”看来他们还真认真呐。居然像哄小孩一样照顾他们的小鸡，爱心可嘉。之后，Joey得到了同样的回敬。这样，70ey就习惯性地说“Ohhh，here it comes。”这应该如同我们中国人说的“噢，又来了。”那下一句汉语会是“是，我就要说。”Chandler也告诉我们美国人的说法“Yes，here it
comes!”然后他生气地说出了原因：“我一整天都被困在家里，你一回来只和我们呆了两秒种就又要出去和朋友玩乐。先生，这合适吗?”不知你是否发现，他的这句话很像中国人的两口子吵架。尤其是最后一句，他说“自从我们有了小鸡我们老是吵来吵去”。

经过这样的解释你是否发现，他们两个像一对刚刚有了孩子的夫妻，因为还没有完全适应新生活，出了一点矛盾就大吵起来。在其他的美国电影中你是否看过真正的两夫妻为这种事吵架呢?我曾看过一些，但我们要想达到这种吵架的水平，还是要下一番功夫的。
