本集简介：

The One With The Holiday Armadillo

Ross has his son, Ben, for the holidays and decides to teach him about Hanukkah. Ben can't handle the idea of no visit from Santa, so Ross tries at the last minute to find a Santa costume. The rental shop is all out so he rents an Armadillo costume instead. Things go from bad to worse but in the end he finally gets to give Ben Hanukkah and Christmas. Phoebe's apartment in finally done being rebuilt after the fire. Worried that Rachel won't want to move back in with her, she tries to rive a wedge between Joey and Rachel by giving Joey a drumset and a tarantula. It backfires, but Rachel wants to live with Phoebe anyway. The apartment looks great but no longer has two separate bedrooms. Phoebe likes the spaciousness, so Rachels keeps living with Joey. Chandler tries to master the art of smoothing slipping someone money during a handshake.

菲比的公寓终于完成了灾后重建；因为担心瑞秋不肯搬去和她同住，菲比先后送给乔伊一套鼓和一只狼蛛，想借此让瑞秋离开乔伊。
瑞秋很喜欢鼓和狼蛛，在识破了菲比的诡计之后，她仍然愿意和菲比住。
公寓很棒，但两间睡房之间的墙被拆了。
菲比感觉祖母大约喜欢她能单独住，于是瑞秋仍然和乔伊一起住。

故事梗概

过圣诞节了，Chandler和Monica一起到餐厅吃饭，没想到虽然已经预定了座位，但逐是得等上45分钟才能有空位．因为他们8点钟逐要看电彩，Monica建议Chandler给领班塞点钱．为了把事情做得自然些，Chandler想趁跟领班握手之机把钱送入他的手中。可他尝试了两次都以失败告终。

Chandler: (to the Maitre d') Hi, could we get twoburritos to go, please? (Laughs.)

Monica: I'm sorry. But not thatsorry, 'cause you don't have to live with it. Um, we have a reservation underthe name Chandler Bing.

Maitre d': Oh-kay, we'll have atable for you in about 45 minutes.

Chandler: Forty-five minutes? We have tickets to theMusicman at 8:00.

Maitre d': I'm sorry. Christmasis a very busy time, sir.

到了餐厅Monica对领班说：um，we haVe a reservation under the name chandler Bing．(唔，我们预定了座位，名字是chandler Bing。)当时由于赶上圣诞节，情况比较特殊，所以才会出现定了座位还需wait in line排号等候的现象。换作平常，如果已预定，只要你能照预约时间按时前来，是不会碰到Monica和Chandler这样的遭遇的。

在西方，比较高级的餐厅都必须事先以电话订位。生意火爆的餐馆也需预定，因为其经常座无虚席，如果事先没有预约，很可能会有向隅之憾。

预定席位的标准对话如下：

A：I'd like to reserve a table for two，please．(我想预定两个人的餐桌。)

B：A party for two?Your name，please．(两个人吗?请问贵姓大名’?)

要问明总共多少人用餐时，可以简单地说：For how many persons，please?要问对方准备何时用餐，就说：At whattime can we expect you?最后还得问清楚客人的电话，以便确认预约或临时有事可以通知对方。

如果客人是提前好几天预约的，为了提醒客人，并且确定预约的情形是否有变更，最好能在前一天打电话确认一下：I'd like to confirm your reservation for tomorrow／tonight．当然首先得表明自己的身份，然后将预约的内容重复一遍：Your reservation is for a table for four at 7 p．m．Has there been any change?待一切都确定完之后，别忘了说声：We look forward to welcoming you．以致欢迎之意。如果没有预约，到了餐馆就需要find a table for dinner(找餐桌就餐)。如果有空位，服务生一般都会尽快给你安排座位：We can seat you very soon．安排过程中服务生时常会在就餐位置方面征求你的意见：Would you prefer a table near the window＼bv the stage＼in the center＼over there＼over here?(您喜欢靠窗＼舞台旁边＼在中间＼在那边＼在这边的那一桌吗?)如果你选中的桌子已被人预订，服务生可能会抱歉地说：I'm afraid that table is reserved，sir．如果餐厅已客满，服务生大都会建议你等一会儿：I'm afraid all our tables are taken，sir. Would you mind waiting until one is free?或Couldyou wait about 10 minutes，please?有空桌时，服务生会马上过来call you(叫你)：We have a table for you now，sir_This way，please．We're very sorry for the delay．(先生，现在有位子了，这边请。非常抱歉耽搁了您的时间。)这时一定要记着大度地说：Fine．或Well，it doesn't matter．或是It's ok．之类的回应才能不失礼数。
