本集简介：
The One Where They All Turn Thirty

Rachel's struggles with turning thirty prompt the rest of the gang to remember they're thirtieth birthdays. Monica got drunk just before her surprise party; Phoebe tried to reconcile with Ursula and found out she was actually 31; Ross bought a sportscar, but couldn't get it out of it's parking spot; Chandler just turned 30; Joey cried and blamed God. Rachel decides that in order to accomplish her goals in life, she needs to find the man she's going to marry. So she breaks up with Tag.

故事梗概

为庆祝Monica 30 岁生日，Chandler为她精心准备了一个非常正式的惊喜聚会。monica所有的朋友以及她的父母都应邀到场。一番耐心的等待之后，终于盼回来了Monica。大家做好准备好让她大吃一惊，可是却不见Monica进屋。Chandler出去一看才知道，无法接受自己已是30岁女人的Monica喝醉了。

Monica: Heyyy!! You got the door open!!(Giggles.)

Chandler: Hey-hey are you drunk?

Monica: Nooo! (Giggles) Okay. (She tries topull herself up by Rachel and Joey's doorknob, but the door opens and shealmost falls into the their apartment. She manages to catch herself.) Whoa!(Stands up, unsteadily) Okay. See I was, I was a little nervous about turning(whispering) thirty. (Giggles.) So the bus boys took me out for some drinks.(Pause) I wanna puke on you later!

Chandler: Okay, here is the thing. We have thrown avery formal surprise party for you in there! All of your friends are in thereand your parents!

已经是30岁的女人的事实显然让Monica无法接受，喝得酩酊大醉的她差点吐到Chandler的身上：I wanna puke onyou later!(我不想现在就往你身上吐!)说到表示“呕吐”的表达法，我们大都想得最多的是vomit或是throw up，很少会用到puke。从前，当Shakespeare使用这个词时，本来它代表的意义非常古雅。后来随着时间的推移，它的格调日趋低落，到如今在表示“呕吐”的几种说法中，已成为最不堪入耳的下流话了。所以puke还是少用为好。

vomit是正式的表达法，由于它给人的印象过于直白，因此在日常会话中不大使用。为了避免说这个词，常常使用具有同一词义的be sick，throw up，upchuck，lose one’s dinner等等。其中最委婉的就是be sick，其次为throw up和upchuck。lose qne's dinner比前面的三个说法语气轻松，所以在一般会话中经常出现，比如：I lost my dinner on the train．(我在火车上吐了。)当然更随便一些的说法还有toss one's cookies等，但主要是年轻人相互间使用。不管怎样，使用puke时一定要慎重，因为这是一种让人一听就难受的最庸俗的表达法。因此学习Friends中的一些用语时，不能盲目照搬，还要顾及使用的场合和说话的对象。
