The One With The Truth About London
Rachel watches Ben while Ross has a meeting, and she teaches him all about practical jokes. Ross doesn't like it, but he eventually turns the tables on Rachel. Chandler and Monica try to find a minister for their wedding, but don't like their options. They decide to let Joey (who's being ordained over the Internet) perform the ceremony. Monica gives Phoebe some pills for her headache. When Phoebe finds out about the possible side-effects, she fears the worst. While discussing how they first got together in London, Chandler finds out that on the fateful night when Monica first came to his hotel room, she had been planning to hook up with Joey. Phoebe can't help wondering what things would have been like if Joey and Monica ended up together, prompting an alternate-storyline flash-forward of Monica cooking lots of fried food for a very fat Joey.

Ross: I have a bone to pick withyou.
Rachel: Uh-oh.
Ross: Yes! Ben learned a littletrick.
Rachel: Oh yeah? Did he pull theold?(She is waving her hand up and down her face. She's thinking about thepencil mark.)
Ross: That's right! That's right!Saran Wrap on the toilet seat so the pee goes everywhere!
I have a bone to pick with you.(我对你有点意见。)have a bone to pick with someone在口语中用于表示“对某人有点意见”:I've got a bone to pick with you.How come you didn't come to my party last night?(我对你可有点意见。 I enjoyed reading your article on inflation, but I have a bone topick with you over your interpretation of the economic situation.(我很有兴趣地拜读了你那篇关于通货膨胀的文章,但是对于你对经济形式的分析,我却有点小小的意见。)
关于bone,口语当中你还会常听说be(as)dry as abone(完全干涸)这一习语。
After four months with no rain, even the riverbed became as dry as bone.(由于一连四个月没下雨,连河床都完全干涸了。)We were only halfway across the desert when the gas tank got as dry as a bone.(我们横穿沙漠才走了一半,油箱就干得底朝天了。) Let'sstop for a drink.I'm as dry as a bone.(咱们停下来喝点什么,我的嗓子渴得直冒烟。)
I'msorry,but you can't buy a strong drink here.This town is as dry as a bone.(对不起,这里买不到带酒精的饮料。 当然这句话你只说This town is dry.
The well is bone-dry.(水井已经完全干涸了。)My throat is bone-dry.(我的嗓子干得直冒烟c)This county is bone-dry.(这个县绝对禁酒。)
Mr.Swiftis boning up on American Geography. I have to bone up on Canadian immigration procedures.(我必须抓紧研究加拿大的移民手续。)这样,在使用时多与have to或者got to结合起来。 I have tobone up on next year's sales program for the board of directors meeting tomorrow.(为了明天召开的董事会,我对明年的年度销售计划必须再认真审核一番。)

arol: Umm uh, I'll make somecoffee and we can uh, chat.
Rachel: I'd love that. I wouldloooove?(Carol goes to make the coffee and she sits down.) So uh, so where issweet little Ben? I would love to have a little...
Ben: (jumping up from behind herchair) Gotcha!! (Rachel jumps up startled.)
Rachel: I found him! (To Ben)Very funny, come here! (She sits down on the coffee table and Ben walks up.)That is exactly why I've come here to talk to you okay?
Carol: (from the kitchen) Rach,do you want some sugar in your coffee?
Rachel: Yes oh--(To Ben)Do I wantsugar in my coffee? (Ben nods no.) No, just some milk would be good Carol.Thanks. (To Ben) Okay, do you remember all that stuff I taught you yesterday?
讲解
Rachel到访,Carol去make some coffee来招待她。coflee和co.1a、soda 还有tea一样属于soft drink(不合酒精的饮料)。 Do VOU want your coffee now or later?(您是现在就要咖啡呢,还是等一下?)
喜好淡的则会说:Please make it weak.(请泡淡一点。) Waiter,may I have my coffee now?(服务生,现在可以给我上咖啡吗?) May I have another cup,please?(可以再给我一杯吗?) Would you like a refill?(再给您添一杯好吗?)
Could you choose one from the list, please? 说到这我要简单提一下strong drink(含酒精的饮料)。 We sell mini, quarterand half bottles, sir.Which would you Drefer?(我们有迷你瓶,四分之一和半瓶装,您要哪一种?) How many glasses will you need, sir?(需要几个杯子?)
