Bogof - Buy one get one free

Immie: Did you get everything I wanted in the supermarket?

Drew: Sure, look. I'll empty the bag.

Immie: Well, OK. You did. Wait a minute. What's that in the bottom of the bag?

Drew: Wasabi peas.

Immie: Two big bags of wasabi peas. That wasn't on my list.

Drew: I know, but they're my favourite and they had a bogof.

Immie: A what?

Drew: Bogof, buy on e get one free. I couldn't resist it.

Immie: You just can't be trusted to stick to the shopping list.

I'll empty the bag,这个bag,当然是指carrier bag或shopping bag,即公司给顾客盛所购物品的手提纸袋或塑料袋。
What's that in the bottom of the bag? 句中的in the bottom改为at the bottom也可以。但in有强调袋子“里头”的含义,at则没有;on the bottom则是强调“在底部上面”。 (1) At/In the bottom of the suitcase were a few books(手提箱最下面有几本书)。(2) The boat was lying on/at the bottom of the sea(那艘船躺在海床上)。

They're my favourite and they had a bogof。 头字母词读时,不把每个字母分开来念,而是分音节发音,例如NA-TO(North Atlantic Treaty Organisation,北大西洋公约组织)、ra-dar(radio detection and ranging,雷达)等;缩写读时,则是每个字母分开来念,例如Y-M-C-A(Young Men's Christian Association 基督教青年会)、B-B-C(British Broadcasting Corporation 英国广播公司)等。 (1) He said the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation/He said NATO should be dissolved(他说北约应该解散)。(2) Do you know who is in control of the Young Men's Christian Association/the YMCA?(你知道基督教青年团是谁掌管的吗?)
