denise: so you grew up in a large family. that must have been fun.

jimmy: oh, most of the time it was great. we had quarrels occasionally, of course, but there was always someone to play with and help you out if you got into trouble.

denise: that sounds great. it was very different from my experience.

jimmy: you haven't got any brothers or sisters, right?

denise: no, i was an only child: my parents had me fairly late in life. they were in their early forties in fact.
丹尼斯：对，我没有，父母生我时，年纪都不小了，四十二、三岁左右。
