无论是应征信还是报读课程的个人自述（personal statement），当中常见的问题是句式过于单调。虽然应征信和个人自述旨在介绍自己，但是如果通篇都是 "i..."，就十分乏味。以下几个方

法可以使句式更富于变化。
1. 以participle（分词）起句

?原句：i am undeterred by failures. i always seek ways to improve myself.

?可改成：undeterred by failures, i always seek ways to improve myself.
2. 以prepositional phrase（即以from、with、in、as等前置词开头的
短语）起句

?原句：i have strong interpersonal skills. i am a good team player.
?可改成：with strong interpersonal skills, i am able to work well in a team.
?原句：i held the position of public relations officer at the asian studies society. i was responsible for promoting our organisation's activities among the campus community.
?可改成：as the public relations officer at the asian studies society, i was responsible for promoting our organisation's activities among the campus community.

3. 用dependent markers（如：although、when、even if）起句
?原句：i learnt how to analyse a company's prospects when i worked for xxx fund as an intern.

?可改成：when i worked for xxx fund as an intern, i learnt how to analyse a company's prospects.
