The United States has said it reserves the right to respond further to Russia's expulsion of 60 US diplomats. Moscow's move was in its self-reaction to the US decision to throw out Russian staff in the escalating diplomatic fallout over the poisoning of the former spy Sergei Skripal in Britain. The UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has warned that the situation is now reminiscent to the Cold War, something Moscow appears to agree with. That's our correspondent Paul Adams says. Well British and other officials are saying no no no no, this is not about a return to the bad old days of the Cold War. You do hear that language a new Cold War being banded aroud here. I think it's because Russia is beginning feel ganged up on. Well this was just a kind of bilateral affair between Russia and Britain. Russia was able to kind of deal with it in a slightly different tone. Now that it appears to be this rallying aroud of international opinion and particularly with this significant involvement of the United States. We are back to the kind of old enemy, the old rivalry.
France's offered to mediate in the conflict in Northern Syria where Turkey launched a military offensive against Kurdish fighters two months ago. The French president Emmanuel Macron said he hoped that his country could help to establish a dialogue between Turkey and the US-backed Syrian democratic forces.
The owners of the MyFitnessPal website and app have warned that 150 million user accounts have been accessed in a data breach. The US company Under Armour said an unauthorized party had obtained user names, email addresses and encrypted passwords. Dave Lee has the details. Under Armour said the breach occurred in late Feburary, but was only discovered on the 25th of March. Once they knew, the company said it began informing any users that may have been affected. While passwords were accessed by the intruders, the company said the data was strongly encrypted, making it difficult for criminals to make use of it. Indeed as far as data breaches go,security experts agreed that Under Armor had acted appropriately in disclosing the size and scope of what happened.
