Marie Yovanovitch says she felt intimidated by the president. She's been describing how her efforts to fight corruption in Ukraine were undermined before she was fired by the president earlier this year.
A long-time adviser to Mr.Trump Roger Stone has been convicted on seven criminal counts of lying to congress, obstruction and witness tempering. Mr.Stone was in trial in Washington over his remarks about WikiLeaks email release during the 2016 presidential campaign.
Bolivia's new foreign minister Karen Longaric says her country is breaking off diplomatic relations with the government of Venezuela, a close ally of the former president Evo Morales, who resigned and fled the country on Sunday. Cuba, another major ally of the former president, has said it is bringing home more than 700 of its citizens from Bolivia.
The prime minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed has warned that universities will be shut down, if they failed to bring student's violence under control. At least four students have been killed in ethnic clashes on university's campuses in recent days.
Iraq's top Shiite cleric Ayatollah Ali Sistani has given a strong endorsement to the wave of protests demanding political changes. In his Friday sermon delivered by a spokesman, Ayatollah said the ruling powers were delusional if he thought they could evade real reform by stalling.
Sweden's minister for culture and democracy has presented a literary prize awarded to detained Chinese born writer and publisher, despite threats and countermeasures by China. Amanda Lind gave the prize to Gui Minhai, a naturalized Swedish citizen in his absence.
