美国两人因袭国会山被判长期监禁

Two former leaders of the far-right Proud Boys militia have been sentenced to long prison terms for storming the US Capitol building in January 2021.

Joseph Biggs, an army veteran was sentenced to 17 years. Zachary Rehl was given 15 years.

These are two of the longest sentences from hundreds of convictions related to the attack on the US Capitol.

Prosecutors said Jo Biggs was a key figure, an instigator in a seditious conspiracy to forcibly overturn Joe Biden’s election victory.

Before he was sentenced, Biggs expressed regret, and said he'd been seduced by the crowd. His sentence could have been much longer.
